At the AAM

Please observe the following protocols and only visit if you are healthy. Visitors showing signs of illness will be asked to return at a later date.

Respect required distancing & on-site signs/guidance system
Please keep a minimum distance of 6 feet between guests and staff members. Please avoid direct physical contact. Parties may remain together. Children must stay with adults at all times. Follow directional floor signage to help maintain social distancing and respect gallery capacities.

Wash and disinfect your hands
Please wash your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and use hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the building.

Cough and sneeze etiquette
Please cough or sneeze into your elbow, not your hands.

The coatroom and storage lockers are unavailable at this time. Backpacks/bags larger than 11 x 15 inches are not permitted in the galleries; please refrain from bringing items that cannot be maintained on or about your person. Children are not allowed to be carried on shoulders in AAM galleries. Soft front-facing baby carriers are allowed.

Strollers/prams may be left in the designated museum courtyard storage area to the left of the AAM’s main entrance reception desk. This space can accommodate up to four strollers.

Please note that our elevator is for use by those with mobility issues. We request usage be limited to one party at a time.

The Street and Lower Level private lockable restrooms are open. Please be aware that public water fountains are not functioning.

AAM Shop
The Shop is open. You may also shop online and have items shipped to you directly.

For Your Safety…

  • There is a single designated visitor entrance at the Hyman Avenue side of the facility and a single exit on Spring Street to ensure efficient and safe access & traffic flow throughout your museum experience.

  • Acrylic panels are installed in front of the reception desk and SO Café cash register.

  • High-touch building surfaces—railings, gallery & facility doors, elevator control panels, restroom facilities, counters, and changing stations—are cleaned and disinfected daily.

  • Our HVAC system pulls in outside air at the rate of 6,000–9,000 CFM—we do not recycle interior air.

  • Food and drink are not permitted in the museum. Water and container-based beverages are available for purchase at SO Café on museum Level 3. We recommend visitors use credit/debit cards for on-site purchases.

If you have questions prior to your visit, please contact us via email at or by phone at 970.925.8050.
