Have you ever been curious about the process behind a woodcut? This Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. (MT), AAM Educator Vanessa Porras invites you into her art studio for Art Studio Live!, to explain the steps in creating a new woodcut, including design, prepping the wood, and more. Follow Vanessa as she creates a new design for The Black Arts Tarot Card Print Exchange project! We hope to see you there!
The Teen Curators program allows participants to gain insight into different styles of curatorial practice. In this brand-new iteration of what has become a signature AAM highlight for teens, each curator will design their own creative project with support from museum staff.
Teen Council meetings happen every other Tuesday from August to May. Through this program led by AAM Educator, Elisabeth Strunk, local teenagers create and implement events for their peers. The Council follows the motto, “For teens, by teens,” to make the Aspen Art Museum a fun place for youth in the Roaring Fork Valley.
Acompáñame este miércoles a las 2:30pm MT para nuestra primera entrevista en español en Art Studio Live. Nuestra artista destacada del mes es María Pujol, artista gráfica, basada en Barcelona, España. María crea grabados tridimensionales no típicos. Únete a la plática, ¡Te esperámos!
Join AAM Educator Vanessa Porras this coming Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. (MT) on Art Studio Live! for an interview in Spanish with this month’s featured artist María Pujol.
A renowned graphic artist and the director of Barcelona’s Manera Negra engraving workshop, María Pujol creates unconventional three-dimensional prints that combine her sensitivity to both tradition and innovation through a mastery of the technique of photoengraving. Pujol’s works have been exhibited throughout Spain, as well as internationally in France, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, and here in the US in New York City.
Teen Artists will meet with and learn from AAM staff, guest artists, and our creative community partners at Anderson Ranch. They will explore and build their art-making skills and present their work to the public in the spring.
Photoengraving is a printmaking process wherein an image is exposed onto a photosensitive plate. Master printmaker Maria Pujol specializes in this technique and has innovated in its traditional practice by adding the element of three-dimensionality. Join AAM Educator Vanessa Porras at 2:30 p.m. MT for a demo in 3D photoengraving.
The Teen Curators program allows participants to gain insight into different styles of curatorial practice. In this brand-new iteration of what has become a signature AAM highlight for teens, each curator will design their own creative project with support from museum staff.
Organized by the AAM Teen Council, this private by-teens-for-teens reception will feature presentations by the museum’s 2021 Teen Artists and Teen Curators.
