Have you ever wished that you had more time to go deeper into the ideas that come up on exhibition tours?

This four-session course meets every Wednesday from 5:30–7:30 p.m. in May to break down key histories, concepts, and debates of contemporary art. Participants will build a skill set of observational tools, critical vocabulary, and a greater confidence in navigating contemporary art.

This session will explore the topic “The Subject, the Body, and Representations,” and is led by Bridget Cooks, Professor of Art History and African American Studies at the University of California, Irvine, and author of Exhibiting Blackness: African Americans and the American Art Museum.

$25 members/$35 nonmembers for the entire course; or $7/$10 per session.

AAM education programs are made possible by the Questrom Education Fund.
