Anne Collier

Apr 10, 2015-Jul 5, 2015
The first museum survey of New York–based photographer Anne Collier examines integral themes within her practice, including the conventions of commercial photography and pop psychology. Curated by Michael Darling, and initially presented at CCS Bard (June 28–September 21, 2014) followed by the MCA Chicago (November 22, 2014–March 8, 2015), the exhibition traces Collier’s career from 2002 to the present. Turning her lens on images already present in popular culture—books, record albums, magazines, and film stills—Collier considers the integral role photography and image-making play within contemporary society.

Anne Collier is organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. This exhibition is overseen in Aspen by Heidi Zuckerman, Nancy and Bob Magoon CEO and Director.

AAM exhibitions are made possible by the Marx Exhibition Fund. General exhibition support is provided by the Toby Devan Lewis Visiting Artist Fund. Additional support is provided by the AAM National Council.
