    Book Sculptures
    Choosing a Theme & Cover

    You’ve heard of pop-up books, but have you heard of book sculptures? Tune in every Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. (MT) during the month of December as AAM Educator Vanessa Porras teaches a four- part, step-by-step series on the many options in creating one! Materials are super-simple, all you really need is a little patience and copious amounts of creativity!
    
    This activity is suited for those old enough to safely work with an X-acto style knife.

    Teen Curators Meeting

    The Teen Curators program allows participants to gain insight into different styles of curatorial practice. In this brand-new iteration of what has become a signature AAM highlight for teens, each curator will design their own creative project with support from museum staff.

    Tune in this Wednesday, and to learn how to make the most out of the pages in your book as we begin to carve. You will witness the transformation of a book into art as we guide you through each step of the process.

    Theme: Diversity

    Te Quiero (casi siempre) by Anna Llenas is a book about learning to accept others’ differences and loving them fully (even if we don’t always love everything they do). Using the book as inspiration, care providers and students create a collaborative friendship mural.

  • 5:30 PM Teen Council

    Teen Council Meeting

    Teen Council meetings happen every other Tuesday from August to May. Through this program led by AAM Educator, Elisabeth Strunk, local teenagers create and implement events for their peers. The Council follows the motto, “For teens, by teens,” to make the Aspen Art Museum a fun place for youth in the Roaring Fork Valley.

    Pushing Paper to its Limit!

    Paper is a versatile material that allows us to make almost anything with it! The challenges this Wednesday are to explore its many possibilities to make a 2D material into a 3D object. Pulp and paper mache are options!
