    The film program begins with the source inspiration for Yto Barrada’s exhibition Klaatu Barrada Nikto. In this sci-fi classic, an alien lands on Earth and tells people that they must live peacefully or they will be destroyed in order to protect other planets.

    The Great Debate and Screening: Are Facts Fundamental to Truth?

    The Great Debate is a public program inviting elevated, engaged conversations around questions that unpack our opinions around art and beyond. Following the centuries-old format of the Oxford Union, the proposition “Are Facts Fundamental to Truth?” will be debated by four luminaries—two for and two against. Once the speakers have put forth their arguments, the discussion will open up to the audience for deliberation and a final vote. Presented in partnership with Aspen Public Radio and Aspen Film, this event will also include a screening of All the President’s Men (1976).

    Movies at the Museum: Inception (2010)

    Shot partially in Tangier, Morocco, near the hometown of Yto Barrada, this psychological thriller explores the multiple layers of the subconscious. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a thief skilled at the dangerous practice of extracting information from dreams. His rare ability is a curse from which the only way to escape is a final job in which he must do the opposite: create a crime scene in the mind of an enemy by planting an idea.
