This free program offers senior citizens in the Roaring Fork Valley an informal drawing lesson and the opportunity to socialize over food and beverages at SO, the AAM’s Andrea and James Gordon Café.
As a complement to his exhibition of paintings this fall at the AAM, this season’s Movies at the Museum celebrates three feature-length films by Julian Schnabel that tell the true stories of brave, creative individuals.
Celebrate the closing weekend of the exhibition of Alan Shields’s Protracted Simplicity (1966–1985) with an in-gallery reading of selected poems also created by the artist. Presented in collaboration with the Aspen Poets’ Society, local poets will perform Shields’s original poetry among his paintings and sculptures.
Free, drop-in spotlight tours led by museum staff are offered every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 p.m.

This after-school program for kids in Grades K–4 is held most Wednesdays during the school year at the AAM. Museum educators lead classes that include activities in the gallery and take-home projects.

Join the AAM on Thursday, October 6, for Beer, Brats, and Bluegrass. Featuring the Roaring Fork Valley’s own Buffalo Joe, delicious brats, and Aspen Brewing Company Beer. Last year’s event sold out quickly, so be sure to secure your reservation.
