Monthly drop-in Family Workshops at the AAM are designed to provide children and adults free opportunities to explore the galleries and create works of art on their own. Participants get to know one another better through engagement with exhibitions. Families are encouraged to communicate, reflect, and produce as artists together.
In an exclusive opportunity, artist Judith Scott’s twin, Joyce Scott, will be at the AAM for a public exhibition walkthrough of Judith Scott—Bound and Unbound on the closing weekend of the show. Offering insight into the late artist’s work and life, Scott will join AAM Learning Director Michelle Dezember to bookend the first solo museum survey of the artist.
Bold forms, bright colors, and unexpected materials. Taking cues from pioneering artist Lynda Benglis, participants of this Workshop will gain skills to craft their own unique creative voice. Students will create their own business and brand, learn marketing and leadership skills, and design their very own stand to be used on Lemonade Day.
What if the whole world was your art studio? Participants will take inspiration from the playful approach of artist Gabriel Orozco, exploring how our surrounding environment can be a studio space for creating multimedia artworks. Time exploring around Aspen will encourage students to make artworks that reflect how they see the world.
This Workshop is created for those with a passion for fashion. Students will learn skills such as hand-sewing, pattern-cutting, and fabric embellishment. After creating a Look Book and a one-of-a-kind wearable accessory, we will celebrate our new looks with a runway show for family and friends.
Presented in collaboration with the Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS), this free chamber concert series features one hour performances by the most advanced AMFS students and visiting musicians in Aspen.
Free, drop-in spotlight tours led by museum staff are offered every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 p.m.
Carol Bove was born in 1971 in Geneva, Switzerland, to American parents, and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She creates simple yet intricate assemblages of found and made objects, carefully arranged on pedestals, elevated platforms, or directly against walls and ceilings to yield unexpected, poetic, and multilayered meanings. Her work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Palais de Tokyo, Paris, Blanton Museum of Art, TX, Kunsthalle Zürich, Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, and the Kunstverein Hamburg.

Free sculpture from its rigidity, letting it blossom into forms familiar to the fountains created by artist Lynda Benglis. Students will trade marble and chisel for colorful, elastic materials. Busy hands will stuff, pour, and stretch materials to new heights. These funky forms are sure to stand on their own.
