Calling all fashionistas! This Workshop was made just for you. In this Workshop, you’ll create one-of-a-kind, wearable pieces of art. You’ll learn basic skills such as sewing, figure drawing, and how to create your own mood board. Inspired by the colors and shapes of Chris Ofili’s artworks, this Workshop will culminate in a fashion show on the museum’s roof-deck. Full, Waiting list available
Young participants will experiment with simple words and a variety of materials to create wearable artworks, colorful posters, and interactive sculptures that will pop up in unexpected places around Aspen, bringing art to the public while inviting playful participation.
Enter a secret society where historical objects and sculptures in Aspen come to life through storytelling. What do we want to remember about our past, present, and future? Students create affirmative statement pieces that will serve as a visual record of our experience of place, and maybe even affect our future.
From July 11–15, Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery will construct a temporary mandala sand painting on Level 3 of the Aspen Art Museum as part of their annual visit to Aspen. Geshe Lobsang Tenzin, Founder and Spiritual Director of the Drepung Loseling Monastery and Senior Lecturer at Emory University, will present a lecture on the symbolism of the mandala and what to expect during the closing ceremony the following day.
Let art and spectacular views elevate your experience of music. Presented in collaboration with the Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS), this free chamber concert series takes place this summer in the Roof Deck Sculpture Garden, featuring one-hour performances by the most advanced AMFS students and visiting musicians in Aspen.
