Art Studio Live
Screen printing with multiple colors

May 19, 2021
2:30 PM
One of the best things about screen printing is seeing your design come to life by adding various colors. Inspired by this month’s guest artist Ali O’Neal’s most recent line for the Green is the New Black Fashion Show, we’ll be playing with some lilacs and lime green colors. Join AAM Educator, Vanessa Porras, at 2:30 p.m. (MT), as we continue to work on old textiles to convert them into new and vibrant clothing patches.

Supplies:
Screen
Squiggy
Ink
Tape
Stencil

Broadcast live every Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. (MT) on Instagram, Art Studio Live! features art-making activities with easy-to-follow, step-by-step methods to expand learning and create with materials found at home.

Ali O’Neal grew up in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, spending her days meandering through the Christmas tree forests and catching bluegill in the pond. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota, where she graduated with a degree in Environmental Studies and Spanish. After nearly a decade working as an Environmental Educator, she transitioned into creating full-time.

While in the Peace Corps in Ecuador, she melded her affinity for creativity and the environment and painted a series of environmentally-themed community murals. Ali is a screen printer, designer, and seamstress, and is currently pursuing creative endeavors through her brand, Thimble Fox. She uses her work in serigraphy and textiles as a platform for social and political commentary, and to educate about the inequities of the textile fast fashion industry.
