    • In this activity we will focus on the artwork by Doug Aitken. The displacement of wild animals is a highlighted concept in his work. Students will choose an animal and create two environments where that animal could live or choose to migrate.

      Free and open to the public.

      On the final weekend of the Mountain / Time exhibition, Aspen Art Museum presents a special screening event at the abandoned Smuggler Mine in Aspen, Colorado. Artist Cauleen Smith will present GIMME SHELTER CINEGLYPHS throughout the mine’s interior. Simultaneously, two film programs curated by Curator at Large Anisa Jackson and Film Scholar Michael B. Gillespie will be screened outside of the mine in response to the site.

      Join us for a special screening for the closing weekend of Mountain / Time.

      The LA Skins Fest—an annual festival that celebrates Native American filmmaking—is partnering with Aspen Art Museum to showcase a series of engaging short films that focus on Ute Mountain Ute Tribes’ (UMUT) tribal resilience.

      These films will highlight culture, shared values, a strong sense of identity, and contemporary tribal struggles facing the indigenous community.

DanceAspen is preparing for two world premieres for their upcoming show New Horizons. This behind the scenes sneak peek will be on stage on September 23rd and 24th.       Local chefs from Bosq and The Farmer and Chef join Pitkin County seed breeder and farming innovator Casey Piscura in celebration of 10 years of seed development in the Roaring Fork Valley. We also celebrate 128 years of continual farming at Sunfire Ranch and the third year of innovative local farming non-profit Seed Peace!
