Story Art is a community outreach program presented in partnership with the Carbondale Branch Library and the Glenwood Springs Branch Library. This free program for elementary and middle school students provides playful exploration of storytelling through a group reading and art-making activity inspired by AAM exhibitions.
In conjunction with Bauhaus 100: Aspen
Richard Carter is one of the founding members of the Aspen Center for the Visual Arts, the institution that came to be known as the Aspen Art Museum. He will be in conversation with Bauhaus 100: Aspen Program Manager and Aspen Institute Art Curator Lissa Ballinger discussing Carter’s experience working with Bauhaus legend Herbert Bayer from 1972–78, and the legacy that this experience had on Carter’s artistic practice.
Free, drop-in spotlight tours led by museum staff are offered every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 p.m.
This after-school program for kids in Grades K–4 is held most Wednesdays during the school year at the AAM. Museum educators lead classes that include activities in the gallery and take-home projects.
Classes are limited to fifteen participants. Prior registration strongly encouraged.
Monthly drop-in Family Workshops at the AAM are designed to provide children and adults free opportunities to explore the galleries and create works of art on their own. Families are encouraged to communicate, reflect, and produce as artists together.

Celebrate the culmination of the inaugural Aspen Art Museum Artist Fellowship with four project presentations. Artists Wewer Keohane, Michael Lorsung, Shannon Richardson, and Andrew Roberts-Gray will discuss their fellowship experiences and present individual creative projects through a variety of hands-on art activities, video, and performance.
