Join us on Thursday, January 18, at 5:30 p.m., to celebrate the opening of the museum’s new Thomas Struth exhibition with live local music, free wine and beer, delicious snacks from SO Café, and a complimentary art-making activity for all ages on Level 3.
AAM Nancy and Bob Magoon CEO and Director Heidi Zuckerman will begin the evening in conversation with renowned German artist Thomas Struth. The Galleries will be open throughout the evening and Curatorial and Education staff will be on hand to talk about the exhibitions.
AAM exhibitions are made possible by the Marx Exhibition Fund. General exhibition support is provided by the Toby Devan Lewis Visiting Artist Fund. Major support for Thomas Struth’s exhibition is provided by The Baum Foundation. Additional support is provided by Jill and Jay Bernstein and the AAM National Council.
All middle school–age students are invited to the Aspen Youth Center for creative games, art making, and zany activities. After 6 p.m., sixth-graders and up are treated to a pizza dinner and a launch event of Generation Zine.

In this edition of “I Don’t Get It,” the AAM is setting up a pop-up appropriation portrait studio in Nate Lowman’s exhibition Before and After. The evening will begin with an alternative curator-tour with the AAM’s Nancy and Bob Magoon CEO and Director, Heidi Zuckerman. This interactive discussion of Nate Lowman’s exhibition will be followed by an in-gallery art activity that turns a photograph taken of you by the museum into a portrait layered with pop culture references. The result will be a chance to see yourself in a new light and through the eyes of others.
