    • This after-school program for kids in Grades K–4 is held most Wednesdays during the school year at the AAM. Museum educators lead classes that include activities in the gallery and take-home projects.

      Limited class size; prior registration strongly encouraged.

    • In this three-part course, confront the “I don’t get it” often experienced in contemporary art. Participants will unpack topics of humor and absurdity, ultimately building a skill set of observational tools, critical vocabulary, and a greater confidence in navigating contemporary art. Each session is led by a different speaker, beginning with guest lecturer Heather Pesanti, Senior Curator at the Contemporary Austin. This session is taught by Heidi Zuckerman, Nancy and Bob Magoon CEO and Director, AAM.

      Drop-in Family Workshops at the AAM are designed to provide children and adults free opportunities to explore contemporary art and create works of art on their own. Families are encouraged to communicate, reflect, and produce as artists together.
