Aspen Art Museum

Calling all artists: Join an AAM Educator and a local contemporary artist for a hands-on activity tied to an exhibition on view. This free program starts with a nontraditional tour and ends with art making, conversation, and refreshments.

Story Art is a community outreach program presented in partnership with the Carbondale Branch Library and the Glenwood Springs Branch Library. This free program for elementary and middle school students provides playful exploration of storytelling through a group reading and art-making activity inspired by AAM exhibitions.

Monthly drop-in Family Workshops at the AAM are designed to provide children and adults free opportunities to explore the galleries and create works of art on their own. Families are encouraged to communicate, reflect, and produce as artists together.

Free, drop-in spotlight tours led by museum staff are offered every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 p.m.

This after-school program for kids in Grades K–4 is held most Wednesdays during the school year at the AAM. Museum Educators lead classes that include activities in the gallery and take-home projects.

Join the AAM in a weeklong celebration of love in all its forms. Treat yourself or bring your partner to pick up hand-painted truffles from Abby Mandel of Cocoa Tree Chocolates.

On February 13, the AAM Shop will offer a curated floral experience for visitors to design their own bouquet while sipping complimentary bubbles. Shop for unique objects of desire in conjunction with our current presentation of Yayoi Kusama’s Where the Lights in My Heart Go, or peruse our beautiful selection of jewelry and handcrafted greetings.

Musician Rudy Love’s voice has been woven into hits from every decade since the sixties, and Jay-Z, Sly Stone, and George Clinton have all heralded him as an unsung hero of soul. So, why haven’t you heard of him? Find out next Thursday at our ALL THE LOVE Valentine’s Day celebration featuring the very special Movies at the Museum presentation of the documentary This is Love. Come at 5:30 p.m. for a pre-film musical performance by Mark Nussmeier and stay for a post-film Q+A with movie director John Alexander and producer JC Crew! Cash bar and cheese plates provided by SO café.

The AAM is celebrating the opening of Lisa Yuskavage’s Wilderness on Saturday, February 15 beginning at 5:30 p.m.! Join us for delicious snacks from SO Café, free wine and beer, and a complimentary art-making activity for all ages in the Lower Level.
