From July 5–9, Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery will construct a temporary mandala sand painting on Level 3 of the Aspen Art Museum as part of their annual visit to Aspen. Geshe Lobsang Tenzin, Founder and Spiritual Director of the Drepung Loseling Monastery and Professor of Practice at Emory University, will present a lecture on the symbolism of the mandala dedicated to Akshobhya, unshakeable resolve during times of conflict.
From July 5–9, Tibetan Buddhist monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery will construct a temporary mandala sand painting on Level 3 of the Aspen Art Museum as part of their annual visit to Aspen. Visitors are invited to watch the creation of this temporal artwork during regular museum hours.
What’s your favorite color? In this Workshop, we will explore color through painting, printmaking, scavenger hunts, and nature walks. By studying color and the relationships between hues, we’ll learn to appreciate nature, art, and the world around us!
This Workshop is created for students with a passion for fashion, and a love for animals. We will learn skills such as hand-sewing, pattern-cutting, and fabric embellishment. After creating a Look Book and wearable accessories inspired by our favorite creatures, we will celebrate our new looks with a runway show for family and friends.
Turn your imagination into an animated movie! In this playful Workshop, we will develop a storyline with a setting and characters, draw a storyboard, and use a digital camera to animate our films. After one week of production, a special screening will be held for family and friends in the Education Workshop. Please note: Students are required to bring a digital camera or tablet.
Presented in collaboration with the Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS), this free chamber concert series features one-hour performances by the most advanced AMFS students and visiting musicians in Aspen.

Novelty salesman Barry Egan finds promise in his dismal life after being introduced to the mysterious Lena, but is threatened when a crooked mattress salesman enters the picture. The film features fantastic abstract visual effects created by artist Jeremy Blake.
This workshop invites all ages to meet Steve Jenkins, author/illustrator of Creature Features and Apex Predators, as he provides a presentation of his studio process, a reading and signing of his books, and hands-on art making led by the artist and an AAM Educator. This free program encourages budding youth and adult bookmakers alike to explore storytelling.
