Birds of Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley

When you’re ready to spend some time with Nina Katchadourian’s Twitchers and Cheaters—on view through May 19, 2019—why not take along local author Rebecca Weiss and photographer Mark Fuller’s fully illustrated, authoritative book on birding in the Roaring Fork Valley to identify species in the artist’s five-channel video work? Twitchers and Cheaters features footage of birds indigenous to Aspen and the surrounding Roaring Fork Valley; writer/naturalist Weiss and photographer Fuller are both Aspen birding guides who have lead birding programs with our community partner the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES). Weiss’s research and experientially based knowledge gives her bird species accounts local appeal while also providing information that assures positive identification in the field (or, in this case, the AAM Grand Stair), and Fuller’s photographs assure that you can accurately match up description and image to begin your very own birding “life list”…remember, twitching is expected, cheating is not allowed!
