Gabriel Kuri: with personal thanks to their contractual thingness

Dec 20, 2014-Mar 15, 2015
Using familiar materials such as receipts, newspaper, or plastic bags, Gabriel Kuri is interested in the way that commerce mediates almost all human relationships. His Aspen Art Museum exhibition comprises a selection of works that center on Kuri’s interest in the transactional residue of daily life and broad-based ideas of tracking systems in economics, politics, consumption, and production.
AAM exhibitions are made possible by the Marx Exhibition Fund. General exhibition support is provided by the Toby Devan Lewis Visiting Artist Fund. Support for Gabriel Kuri’s residency and exhibition is provided by the Gabriela and Ramiro Garza Distinguished Artist in Residence Fund. Additional support is provided by the Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation for Latin American Art and the AAM National Council.
