Agnes Martin

Nov 26, 2014-Mar 8, 2015
Long considered one of the most important painters bridging the Abstract-Expressionist and Minimalist periods, Agnes Martin created drawings and paintings that incorporate pale washes and delicate pencil marks, developing patterns that preserve the integrity of the artist’s hand. Martin’s Aspen Art Museum exhibition features a selected survey of work that spans her career between 1960 and 2003. Tending toward geometric structures, Martin’s deeply held convictions about the emotive content of her work underlie its apparent reticence and austerity of form.
AAM exhibitions are made possible by the Marx Exhibition Fund. Agnes Martin is funded in part by the AAM National Council.
