Poetry Workshop & Performance

Jan 4, 2017
5:00 PM
637 E. Hyman Ave

In this all-ages exploration of poetry led in collaboration with the Aspen Poets’ Society, participants will receive a hands-on demonstration of how to write ekphrasis poetry, a writing exercise dating back to Ancient Greece in which words are crafted to respond to objects. This interactive event will take place amongst the artworks of Ceal Floyer’s exhibition. Following the workshop, performance poets Kim Nuzzo and Valerie Haugen will bring to life the newly formed poems in response to Floyer’s work through a lively set of performances.

AAM exhibitions are made possible by the Marx Exhibition Fund. General exhibition support is provided by the Toby Devan Lewis Visiting Artist Fund.

Ceal Floyer’s exhibition is funded in part by the AAM National Council. Additional support is provided by the Etkin Family Digital Media and Moving Image Fund.

AAM education programs are made possible by the Questrom Education Fund.
