      5:30 PM Walkthrough with Exhibition Curator Matthew Higgs

      Join us for a Member reception for everybody rise, the first institutional solo exhibition by Florian Krewer in the United States.
       
      Focusing on works made over the past five years, everybody rise proposes a chronological reading of Krewer’s work—one that amplifies key moments and shifts in his practice often made in relation to significant biographical events.

      In conjunction with the current show A Lover’s Discourse, participating artists Guglielmo Castelli (b. 1987, Italy), Chase Hall (b. 1993, USA), Stanislava Kovalcikova (b. 1988, Czechoslovakia) and Zeinab Saleh (b. 1996, Kenya) come together in a panel, moderated by AAM Curator-at-Large Stella Bottai, to discuss their work and the making of the exhibition, in which their paintings are juxtaposed with pieces borrowed from private collections in Aspen.

      Artist Matt Copson, with composer Oliver Leith, will present a multi-sensory installation within the caves of Aspen’s storied Smuggler Mine. Celebrated for his virtuosic laser animations, innovative theater works and his 2022 opera *Last Days
      made also in collaboration with Leith, Copson will develop a site-specific, immersive environment that draws from the mine’s organic and built architectures to create a singular audiovisual world.

      Join artist Roberto Lugo at his Aspen Art Museum rooftop Bodega and purchase ceramics made by the artist in support of the museum.

      As part of the Aspen Art Museum’s ArtCrush Auction Exhibition, acclaimed Philadelphia-based artist, activist, and educator Roberto Lugo collaborates with his representing gallery, R & Company, and the Aspen Art Museum to transform his widely-recognized digital platform, The Village Potter, into a physical storefront.

      Hailed in contemporary art circles for her nuanced collaborations with artists such as Isaac Julien and Kahlil Joseph, and widely renowned for her once-in-a-generation talent, singer and songwriter Alice Smith, accompanied by pianist, Dennis Hamm, will perform a small, intimate set on the Aspen Art Museum’s rooftop against the backdrop of Aspen Mountain.

      Following major performances at New York City’s MoMA PS1 and Melbourne’s Rising Festival, as well as Aspen Art Museum’s own 2023 Youth Art Expo, Poncili Creación returns to the mountains to stage a newly commissioned puppet performance for Aspen ArtWeek.
