    • We are delighted to invite you to the next edition of “How To…” where Charlotte Burns will be in conversation with journalist Julia Halperin about how the art market and museums are behind the curve when it comes to learning from data. Topics discussed will include the results of an art market study of African American and Women artists and trends in institutional behavior.

      Julia Halperin is executive editor of Artnet News, where she oversees editorial operations for the world’s most widely read art news site and manages a staff of editors and writers in London, Berlin, and New York. Previously, she served as the news editor of Art + Auction magazine and as the museums editor of the Art Newspaper, where she oversaw international coverage of museums and other major art institutions. Her writing has appeared in WIRED magazine, the New York Observer, and New York magazine.

      Teen Council Meeting

      Teen Council meetings happen every other Tuesday from August to May. Through this program led by AAM Educator, Elisabeth Strunk, local teenagers create and implement events for their peers. The Council follows the motto, “For teens, by teens,” to make the Aspen Art Museum a fun place for youth in the Roaring Fork Valley.

    • Join AAM Educator Vanessa Porras this coming Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. (MT) on Art Studio Live! for an interview in Spanish with this month’s featured artist María Pujol.

      A renowned graphic artist and the director of Barcelona’s Manera Negra engraving workshop, María Pujol creates unconventional three-dimensional prints that combine her sensitivity to both tradition and innovation through a mastery of the technique of photoengraving. Pujol’s works have been exhibited throughout Spain, as well as internationally in France, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, and here in the US in New York City.

      Teen Artists Meeting

      Teen Artists will meet with and learn from AAM staff, guest artists, and our creative community partners at Anderson Ranch. They will explore and build their art-making skills and present their work to the public in the spring.

    • Photoengraving is a printmaking process wherein an image is exposed onto a photosensitive plate. Master printmaker Maria Pujol specializes in this technique and has innovated in its traditional practice by adding the element of three-dimensionality. Join AAM Educator Vanessa Porras at 2:30 p.m. MT for a demo in 3D photoengraving.

      Teen Curators Meeting

      The Teen Curators program allows participants to gain insight into different styles of curatorial practice. In this brand-new iteration of what has become a signature AAM highlight for teens, each curator will design their own creative project with support from museum staff.
