      Active Art: Whitcomb Terrace

      Active Art invites seniors to engage in the social dimensions of art. Each month, museum Educators bring free, memory-enhancing activities to the assisted-living communities of Whitcomb Terrace in Aspen and Heritage Park in Carbondale, and also host art making in the museum’s Roof Deck Sculpture Garden with complimentary refreshments.

      Guided Tour

      Free, drop-in spotlight tours led by museum staff are offered every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 p.m.

    • This two-part Saturday workshop for grades 9–12 dives into specific exhibitions and mediums, helping students grow as young artists. In this first workshop, participants will learn about the fundamentals of photo composition and how to respectfully listen and converse about art through a critique session.

      Active Art invites seniors to engage in the social dimensions of art.       Free, drop-in spotlight tours led by museum staff are offered every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 p.m.

    • This after-school program for kids in Grades K–4 is held most Wednesdays during the school year at the AAM. Museum educators lead classes that include activities in the gallery and take-home projects.

      Classes are limited to fifteen participants. Prior registration strongly encouraged.

    • This documentary follows the life of George A. Romero, who in 1968, as a college drop-out, directed Night of the Living Dead and shocked the world. His films became icons of the counterculture, and spawned a zombie industry worth billions of dollars that continues to this day.

      Calling all artists: Join an AAM Educator and a local contemporary artist for a hands-on activity tied to the exhibition *Margaret Kilgallen: that’s where the beauty is.8 This free program starts with a nontraditional tour and ends with art making, conversation, and refreshments.
