    • Hey, don’t throw that out! Participants in this mixed-media workshop will gather and transform a variety of found objects and soft materials into spectacular one-of-a-kind collections, textiles, and sculptures offering both artists and viewers an opportunity to see the environment differently.

    • The AAM’s 2017–18 Gabriela and Ramiro Garza Distinguished Artist in Residence, Cheryl Donegan, is a pioneering figure in contemporary conceptual art. For the past two decades, her multidisciplinary practice has investigated the notion of surface—of the canvas, screen, fabric, or her own body. As part of her residency and solo exhibition, Donegan will premiere a new fashion line in a presentation at the museum. Directed and choreographed in collaboration with artist Alix Pearlstein, this free show features models from the Roaring Fork Valley wearing couture pieces.

    • Go vertical in this playful sculpture workshop focusing on stacking, balancing, and stability. We’ll use familiar objects to make colorful columns and textured totems that defy gravity, revealing a jaw-dropping exhibition for family and friends at the end of the week.

    • Lace up your hiking boots and buckle your backpack in this high-alpine, action-painting workshop. Using paint, pastels, and found objects, we’ll paint in response to our surroundings, creating expressive abstract works of art that capture our feelings of the mountains in the moment.

    • Discover the power of drawing together as we mark, smudge, and smear surfaces with expressive lines, shapes, and tones, producing a series of unique abstract works in various materials. Individual and collective portfolios will be shared with family and new friends we’ve made.
