    • Active Art invites seniors to engage in the social dimensions of art. Each month, museum Educators bring free, memory-enhancing activities to the assisted living communities of Whitcomb Terrace in Aspen and Heritage Park in Carbondale, and also host art making in the museum’s Roof Deck Sculpture Garden with complimentary refreshments.

      Active Art: Aspen Art Museum

      Active Art invites seniors to engage in the social dimensions of art. Each month, museum Educators bring free, memory-enhancing activities to the assisted living communities of Whitcomb Terrace in Aspen and Heritage Park in Carbondale, and also host art making in the museum’s Roof Deck Sculpture Garden with complimentary refreshments.

    • Since 2005, the Aspen Art Museum
 and the Aspen Skiing Company have collaborated to bring contemporary art to audiences in unexpected places. Artist Sarah Cain has created a large-scale, site-responsive installation at Elk Camp in the Snowmass Ski Area. Visitors to Ullr Nights at Elk Camp are invited to create playful, colorful artworks in response to Cain’s installation.

      Free, drop-in spotlight tours led by museum staff are offered every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 p.m.

    • This after-school program for kids in Grades K–4 is held most Wednesdays during the school year at the AAM. Museum educators lead classes that include activities in the gallery and take-home projects.

      Classes are limited to fifteen participants. Prior registration strongly encouraged.

  • Jan 11, 2018

    • The Great Debate is a new public program format inviting elevated and engaged conversations around questions that unpack our opinions around art and beyond. Following the centuries-old format of the Oxford Union, the proposition “Is the Local More Important Than the Global?” will be debated by four local leaders—two for and two against. Once the speakers have put forth their arguments, the discussion will open up to the audience for deliberation and a final vote.

      Family Workshops

      Monthly drop-in Family Workshops at the AAM are designed to provide children and adults free opportunities to explore the galleries and create works of art on their own. Families are encouraged to communicate, reflect, and produce as artists together.
