Lawrence Weiner was born in the Bronx, New York, in 1942, and lives and works in New York. His language-based sculptures, installations, and ephemeral works explore a radical redefinition of the relationship between the artwork and the viewer. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at institutions including the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, Kunsthaus Bregenz, Stedelijk Museum, Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, Haus der Kunst, Munich, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, Museo Tamayo, Mexico City, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, DC.

Let’s build! Using a variety of techniques and materials, we will discover the magic of model making by creating mockups and fabricating and replicating our own reproductions of large-scale buildings, items, and art. Through our compacted designs, we’ll learn about the complexities and focus needed to become a pro model maker.
Take a stroll along Hallam Lake and discover what nature has to offer! In this collaborative Workshop with the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies, we will discover the beauty of the natural environment. We will use different mediums to capture what we see and find together—including watercolors, instant film, and drawing—and to create art just as beautiful as the area around us.
