    • This after-school program for kids in Grades K–4 is held most Wednesdays during the school year at the AAM. Museum educators lead classes that include activities in the gallery and take-home projects.

      Limited class size; prior registration strongly encouraged.

    • The curriculum of this four-session course is built around Sarah Thornton’s newest book, 33 Artists in 3 Acts. Michelle Dezember, AAM Learning Director, will teach the first three sessions, taking cue from the book’s chapter titles and artist case studies. Thornton will lead the final session, humanizing and demystifying contemporary art. Thornton is the former chief correspondent on contemporary art for the Economist and author of the best-seller Seven Days in the Art World.

      Participants are strongly encouraged to preregister and purchase a copy of 33 Artists in 3 Acts, available in the AAM Shop.

      Active Art at the Museum

      This free program offers senior citizens in the Roaring Fork Valley an informal drawing lesson and the opportunity to socialize over food and beverages at SO, the AAM’s Andrea and James Gordon Café.

    • As a complement to his exhibition of paintings this fall at the AAM, this season’s Movies at the Museum celebrates three feature-length films by Julian Schnabel that tell the true stories of brave, creative individuals.

    • These community workshops provide playful art exploration for young audiences with their parents or caregivers. The Levels 0–2 and 3–5 Years are offered free of charge on a first come, first serve basis.

      Story Art: Carbondale

      Story Art is a community outreach program that provides playful exploration of storytelling for young audiences with their parents or caregivers. This free community program builds visual literacy and art appreciation in the Basalt Regional Library and Carbondale Branch Library.
