    • This four-session course meets every Wednesday in May, from 5:30–7:30 p.m., to break down key histories, concepts, and debates of contemporary art. Participants will build a skill set of observational tools, critical vocabulary, and a greater confidence in navigating contemporary art.

      Family Workshop

      Monthly drop-in Family Workshops at the AAM are designed to provide children and adults free opportunities to explore the galleries and create works of art on their own. Participants get to know one another better through engagement with exhibitions. Families are encouraged to communicate, reflect, and produce as artists together.

      Guided Tour

      Free, drop-in spotlight tours led by museum staff are offered every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 p.m.

    • 2 PM Experience

      Arte en Español

      Drawing on the wealth of Spanish speakers in the Roaring Fork Valley, the museum presents an afternoon of activities for all ages, entirely in Spanish. Featuring guided tours, family art-making activities, and more, this special event is free and open to the public en Español.

      Guided Tour

      Free, drop-in spotlight tours led by museum staff are offered every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 p.m.

    • This after-school program for kids in grades K–4 is held weekly at the Aspen Art Museum from September through May. Taking place most Wednesdays from 2:30–4 p.m., these workshops recognize the value of exposing children to the arts at an early age and use the artist’s process as an educational tool. Museum educators and teaching artists lead classes that include activities in the gallery and take-home projects.

      Classes are limited to fifteen participants. Prior registration is strongly encouraged.

      Crit Sessions – FULL

      Are you looking for an intimate, constructive environment to gain new perspectives on your artwork? This new program adopts art school’s format of group feedback for a selected group of local artists.

    • Sam Durant is a multimedia artist whose work engages a variety of social, political, and cultural issues. He is a faculty member in the Program for Art at the California Institute of the Arts, and his work has been featured in solo and group museum exhibitions internationally. His lecture corresponds with the Crit Sessions program that he will lead for local artists during his stay.
