Aspen Art Museum

This monthlong program for kids at the K–4 grade level is held weekly at the Aspen Art Museum. Taking place after school most Wednesdays from 2:30–4 p.m., these workshops recognize the value of exposing children to the arts at an early age and use the artist’s process as an educational tool. Museum educators and teaching artists lead classes that include activities in the gallery and take-home projects.

In a night of artistic expression orchestrated by the Young Curators (by teens for teens), this Open-Mic Night features artist talks from the exhibition as well as an open-call format for local music, poetry, and other creative forms to be shared on stage.

Led by museum educators and teaching artists, participants have direct access to contemporary artists, artworks, and themes.

Join us on Thursday, March 26, at 6 p.m. for an opening reception for three new exhibitions: Rodney McMillian’s Landscape Paintings, Second Chances, and Stories We Tell Ourselves. There is a 5 p.m. members’ walkthrough with artist Rodney McMillian, MoMA Associate Curator Thomas Lax, and AAM Nancy and Bob Magoon CEO and Director Heidi Zuckerman.

Museum educators and teaching artists lead classes that include activities in the gallery and take-home projects. Registration is $18 members/$20 nonmembers per class.

Held once a month from 10:30–11:30 a.m., these free community workshops provide playful exploration of storytelling for young audiences with their parents or caregivers. A special June session will be held with Active Art participants. This level of Art Studio is offered free of charge and is first come, first served.
