Summer Workshop instructors must have a passion for contemporary art and the ability to spark interest, arouse curiosity, develop and administer educational programs, and encourage others to learn about art using visual literacy and object oriented learning. Weeklong summer workshops are designed for children ages 4–14. Under the guidance of the summer workshop instructor, children develop artistic skills and expand their understanding of contemporary art through fun activities, hands-on projects, performances, exhibition tours, group discussions, and off-site excursions. Workshops culminate in a wrap-up party for friends and family where student’s present works created throughout the week.
This is an at will summer seasonal part-time position. The compensation for this summer seasonal position is paid on a flat rate per class for each workshop which consists of typically a M-F schedule from 8 am-4 pm, requiring availability for varying schedules. The Summer Workshop schedule is segmented into weekly classes in which the instructor will be compensated with a weekly flat rate for each class taught. The Summer Workshop Instructor position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and will not receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of forty hours in a seven-day workweek or over twelve hours daily.
