Brazilian-born, London – based artist Tonico Lemos Auad creates work with a very light touch. His mediums are intensely ethereal: spaghetti-thin gold chain necklaces, colored jewels, bananas, and carpet lint. By “drawing” on the floor with a cascading pool of chain, or placing nearly invisible gemstones in circles, “L” shapes, and diagonal lines on an otherwise blank white wall, the artist engages the viewers’ eye in formal exercises as well as encourages a closer reading of the work.
