EXHIBITION: FEBRUARY 13 – APRIL 12, 2009
Swiss-born, Berlin-based artist Mai-Thu Perret creates complex and evocative work in a variety of media. Her ongoing literary project, The Crystal Frontier—a fictional account of women starting their own commune in the desert—often serves as the inspiration for her theatrically-charged installations. Instead of a nostalgic mining of the past, however, The Crystal Frontier generates objects that reflect imaginatively on the possibilities of radical history. This exhibition will be comprised of existing and commissioned work that, reconfigured, allows new literary and aesthetic associations to arise.
